I shared one of my art journal pages on Instagram the other day and my sister said she wanted one for her house. So I recreated it on a canvas and I thought I would share it with you guys.
(Original page from my Art Journal)
The inspiration for the page came from Donna Downey‘s Inspiration Wednesday for 11.20.13. I loved the washi tape background and the stamp she used so I decided to give it a try. Only… I didn’t have a stamp! LOL!! So I thought maybe I could just draw a face and since I was drawing a face I thought I might as well try to make it look a little like me. Although once I got done, I really thought it looked more like my sister.
I followed Donna’s video tutorial pretty much completely as far as prepping the background.
Once I got the background prepped and dried, I lightly sketched in a face using a charcoal pencil and then outlined the hair and colored it in using some ink. I just used the eye dropper part of the ink to draw the lines and a small brush to kind of smear it around a little bit. I also use the back of the brush to scribble the ink around a little more and give it more texture and make the ink more interesting.
Once I had the hair how I mostly wanted it, I used the ink eye dropper thing to trace in the rest of the face and dabbed some red paint on the lips to give them color.
Then I played around with it some more. LOL It started looking a little dark so I used the white paint pen to try to give it more definition.
